What Marvel took four years to do, DC does in the same amount of time. Does that mean Justice League's success will be equal to that of The Avengers?

Thor: Ragnarok Review

Image
I know Marvel seems to stop at three with Iron Man and Captain America, but I'm kinda sad it is Thor's last movie already. I wish this was his second film, rather than his last.

Jurassic Park: Worst to Best

Image
Not many franchises have been able to live and thrive the way the Jurassic Park franchise have been able to do. There have been four films in the Jurassic Park series, and there's a fifth one coming this summer. No matter what's said about each of them, they always bring us moviegoers, something new, for better and for worse.

The Lego Ninjago Movie Review

Image
With The Lego Movie and The Lego Batman Movie, things can't get more awesome with The Lego Ninjago Movie, can it?

Rocky: Worst to Best

Image
There are five important ingredients to making a great Rocky film. A training montage, an iconic theme, well-acted characters, a director who knows the material, and of course, Sylvester Stallone, who's been responsible for this franchise from day one. Over the past forty years, he's helped create some of the most recognizable characters, settings, music, and scenes in cinema. Unfortunately, the franchise has hit a few low points with some of its installments. Only recently has the franchise found its footing once again and hopefully it'll continue that way with the planned continuation. For now, I'm here to rank the seven current Rocky films from worst to best and I encourage you to share your personal list in the comments section below. Now, lets see which of these films are gonna fly now and which of them didn't have the eye of the tiger. Get ready to be shell-shocked.

Transformers: Dreadful to Fine

Image
For about a decade now, Michael Bay has taken an unknown toy line and transformed them into empty spectacles that somehow rank high amongst the other summer blockbusters. Basically everything that he does in his films is own display here for little better and a huge amount of worse. Though the franchise has become a gigantic joke in today's cinema environment, your view on these films depends on whether or not you can settle in for two and a half hour films without getting overly upset at the movie's stupidity. Some of these films are quite possibly some of the worst films made. That said, some installments are fine and I'm able to enjoy one or two of these films without finding a whole lot of wrong in them. They are a far from perfect and there's no sugar-coating these criticisms. So sit back as I rank the five Transformers films from the dreadful to the fine.

DC Extended Universe: Worst to Best (Man of Steel - Wonder Woman)

Image
Now that we are four films in, I can now rank the DCEU films to date. It may have been around since 2013, but it feels so new especially with how far it has gotten and we're already close to a Justice League movie. The DCEU hasn't had a smooth road. There's no denying it. It's had a few rough films here and there, but since it's only recently had its fourth installment, how can we complain? The universe is learning. The filmmakers behind it are trying to find out what works and what doesn't. Marvel certainly had a few rough films in its early days, so the DCEU should also get the same courtesy. That doesn't mean that the universe is problem-free. Yes, the DCEU has rushed through things. Rather than than give all its main characters solo films, they've jumped straight for the ensemble films. I appreciate their ambition and their rush to get to get to a Justice League film, but I think the universe could've benefited with a slower start. All of a...

After being stuck in production for a long time, The Dark Tower film finally sees the light of day as one of two Stephen King film adaptations of the year.

Dunkirk (2017 Film) Review

Image
Batman, dreams, space and time, and now a relatively unknown event that took place in the early stages of World War II. Christopher Nolan's directing career continues with Dunkirk.

War for the Planet of the Apes Review

Here we are now. The third entry in a trilogy. After seeing the very successful first two films in a Triple Feature, does it all come crashing down with this third entry?

Spider-Man: Homecoming Review

A dream come true. Spider-Man in the MCU. After his fabulous fifteen minutes in Civil War, what is his Homecoming like?

Wonder Woman (2017 Film) Review

Image

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales Review

Image
"The Final Adventure?" Like I'm gonna believe that. After a six-year hiatus, the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise returns with its newest entry, Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Review

Image
With the unprecedented hit that was the first Guardians of the Galaxy, can James Gunn top himself with Vol. 2?

Power Rangers (2017 Film) Review

Image
With Lionsgate out of reliable franchises, can Power Rangers be their next big franchise? Before I begin, I know nothing about the Power Rangers material that's outside this movie, so if you're looking for a comparison to the 90s tv show, you're gonna be disappointed.

Which Is Better: Tangled vs Frozen vs Moana

Image
Disney's very foundation began with a princess. The very first animated film was Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs way back in 1937. To kick off their computer animated princess films, Disney released the underrated Tangled. Because of Frozen, Tangled get much attention nowadays. To its credit, it set the table for a great princess movies. Frozen came out another three years later and was a hit with critics, audiences, and box office dollars. I'm pretty sure that a lot of you readers have seen the film. If you haven't, good for you, but I'm pretty sure you've heard Let it Go a couple times. Moana preformed solidly. It wasn't a failure, but it wasn't the next Frozen that Disney hoped it be. Today, by request from my little sister, I'm gonna feud the three recent films against each other. There will be five rounds that include Cast/Characters, Story, Score, Action, and Effects. I give each individual round its winner, but the explanations will come at the ...

Beauty and the Beast (2017 Film) Review

Image
From Bill Condon, the guy who brought you the last two Twilight films, comes the live-action remake of a Disney animated masterpiece. Was it a good idea? There are a lot of cast members here, so I'll name the main ones off really quick. The 2017 remake stars Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, Kevin Kline, and Josh Gad. Good thing we start with cast and characters, because there are a lot of them to talk about.

The Lego Batman Movie (2017 Film) Review

Image
After the unexpected success of The Lego Movie, can everything continue to be awesome for Lego movies? There are a lot of characters in this film, but the main characters possess the voice talents of Will Arnett, Zach Galifianakis, Michael Cera, Rosaria Dawson, and Ralph Fiennes.

Back to the Future: Least Favorite to Awesome

Image
In order to do a ranking, my rule is that a series has to have more than three films to qualify for a ranking so that it has an element of surprise to it. However, I love Back to the Future. It's one of the best trilogies of all time. So I thought I'd give Back to the Future its own ranking. I once again I changed the title. This time, as you can see, it's least favorite to awesome. That's because, in my opinion, there's no worst of the trilogy. Sure, there's a least favorite for me, but definitely no worst. Not for me. Today, I give you my ranking of the Back to the Future films. No need to worry about any spoilers. These three films don't have anything to hide much. The plots are pretty straightforward.

Middle-Earth: Least Favorite to Epic

Image
To me, The Lord of the Rings is one of the few series to crack the book-to-film adaption curse that plaques other adaptions. Though it may take a few liberties with its source material, I find it enjoyable all the same. For some reason, people would liken The Hobbit trilogy to that of the Star Wars Prequels. While I say good comparison for the most part, The Hobbit suffers from different problems than that trilogy, but I still watch it a lot more than I do with the Star Wars Prequels. Because I recently had a marathon of all the extended editions for both The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, I thought I'd come back and re-rank this awesome franchise. Feel free to disagree with my ranking in the comments below, or you may actually agree my ranking. There may be a few SLIGHT SPOILERS here and there, but I don't think you should worry about it. I will bring the extended editions into account when it comes to which place I give each film.

La La Land (2016 Film) Review

Image
With a staggering amount of Academy Award nominations, along with widespread critical acclaim, does La La Land live up to the hype? The film stars Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone as an aspiring jazz musician and actress respectively, who fall in love in Los Angeles, otherwise known as La La Land.

Superman: Worst to Best

Image
With a little help from Netflix, I have re-watched the original four Superman films recently as well as Batman v Superman for the first time. Man of Steel and Superman Returns are still fresh in my mind such that I could rank the seven Superman films to date. Superman has had quite a run in his cinematic outings. Some say Henry Cavil is terrible, others say Christopher Reeve is the definitive Superman. His films have wavered to flat out unwatchable to some of the best comic book movies ever. This ranking will only include the theatrical, live-action Superman films, so the animated films don't count. But do you know what does? Batman v Superman does as it will be included on this list. It has Superman, it's live-action, and it was released in theaters so it fits the bill. This is gonna be an interesting ranking so get ready. I will not spoil anything from the seven films so you don't need to worry about any spoiler warnings in this ranking. So let's get to it.

Hidden Figures (2017 Film) Review

Image
Hidden Figures tells the story of three, african-american, mathematicians who had crucial parts in the Space Race of the late 50s, early 60s. It doesn't shy away from displaying the many difficulties of being an african-american in a time of being involved in one of Americas most underrated events, which I appreciated. The cast members include Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, Janelle Monae, Kevin Costner, Kirsten Dunst, and Jim Parsons.

The Ten Best Films of 2016

Image
2016 was a great year for movies. We had unexpected surprises, predictable successes, but also, some terrifying flops. With this list, I won't be focusing on the negative, only the positive. I know I may see some more films that came out this past year in the future, but when I did that with my list of favorite films for 2015, I didn't finish that till April of 2016. Yes, this blog existed before May 2016, but that's a post for another time. Anyway, in an effort to not wait till April, I thought that I'd immediately do this list right as we've started 2017. There will be some SLIGHT SPOILERS in this so "CONTINUE AT SLIGHT SPOILER RISK!

Cars 3 Extended Sneak Peek REACTION

Image
I'm super excited to see this trailer. Ever since the fifty second teaser came out, this film has jumped, or raced, onto the list of films I'm excited to see this year. That list is coming together and you'll be able to see that soon, but this post is for Cars 3. The darker and, dare I say it, sophisticated tone in the first teaser was an unexpected surprise and I look forward to see how it all turns out in the film, assuming that same tone will be in the film. It's not uncommon for films to have tonally different trailers apart from the film. But I'm hoping that is not the case and that the tone established will be in the final film. So one of the things I'd like to see in this trailer is that tone continue. I'd also like to see more racing and more of the impressive visuals that was in that teaser. I thought the visuals in that teaser were amazing. It looked like it was something out of this Asphalt 8 game I play, which is also a racing game as well. One...

Sing (2016) Movie Review

Image
Hello and welcome to Dallin: Film Fanatic today. Thanks for visiting on this fine day to read my review for Illumination's newest film, Sing. It stars Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Seth MacFarlane, Scarlett Johansson, Taron Egerton, and more. The film is about a struggling, but optimistic, koala bear named Buster Moon (McConaughey), who attempts to save his theater by hosting a singing competition. To entice more attendance, Buster makes flyers promising a prize money of 1,000 dollars, but due to a "small mixup," it changes to 100,000 dollars. A ton of animals show up and the final contestants include a mouse (MacFarlane), a shy elephant (Tori Kelly), two pigs (Witherspoon) and (Nick Kroll), a mountain gorilla (Egerton), and a moody porcupine (Johansson). To those who've read my previous reviews, you'll notice a lot of changes have been made to my reviews. In short, there will no longer be spoiler portions which is a good thing because there's noth...
